Where to stay between Iringa and Ruaha

Let us be straight with you about what this is. MARK’s Farm & Lodge is a simple, honest place to stay — not a luxury lodge. If that is what you are looking for, you will love it here. If you need a private bathroom and air conditioning, you will be happier elsewhere, and we would rather tell you now than disappoint you on arrival.

What to expect

• Simple, clean rooms with a proper bed, a mosquito net, a table and a chair. Nothing more, and nothing you need.
• Shared facilities. The rooms do not have private bathrooms. Everyone uses the central block, with separate toilets and showers for women and men. They are cleaned every day.
• Water you can drink, from our own deep well. We put a bottle in your room.
• Night security on site, every night.
• No internet. That is not an oversight. Most guests tell us it was the best part.

About our showers

Our showers are naturally cool, which is wonderfully refreshing in the Tanzanian heat. However, if you prefer a warm shower after a dusty day in Ruaha, just let us know. Linah or Aneth will gladly heat a bucket of water for you. At MARK’s Farm & Lodge, we offer basic facilities, but our hospitality is always warm.

Where we are on your route

We are 30 minutes from Iringa on the Tungamalenga road towards Ruaha National Park. On your way out, that means an early, unhurried start without first crossing town. On your way back — after two hours of gravel and dust — we are the first quiet place before Iringa: a cold drink, a hot bucket if you want one, food from the garden, and the sun going down over the grass.

Our larger family room has a double bed and a bunk bed — four sleeping places — plus an optional baby cot. Prefer to sleep under the stars? Pitch your own tent or rooftop tent at the campsite, or anywhere on our ten hectares. Overland trucks are welcome — just message us so we can keep space free.
